What We Do

One call handles the repairs and projects on your list.

Hughes Residential Services covers the broad middle of home work: the repairs a specialist is too expensive for and a big contractor will not bother with. Real, hands-on craftsmanship, and we treat your home like our own.

Home Repairs

Drywall, doors, trim, flooring, leaks, and the bathroom floor that has been a nightmare since spring. The broken stuff, handled the first time.

Featured Project · CrossFit Edwardsville

From a gutted shell to an open gym in about a month.

Before / AfterBefore and after of a gym buildout: the top shows a gutted space with exposed ceiling and hanging wiring, the bottom shows the finished gym with rig stations, wood feature walls, and rubber flooring
1 MonthGutted shell to open doors

CrossFit Edwardsville had been in business more than a decade and was ready to upgrade to a premium space in Glen Carbon. It started as bare concrete and an open ceiling with the wiring still hanging. We handled the demolition, then took the buildout the rest of the way: framing, drywall, the wood feature walls, flooring, and setting the rig stations.

About a month later they opened the doors. This is the kind of job most handymen turn down. It is the kind we take on.

  • Full demolition and haul-out
  • Framing, drywall, and finish
  • Wood feature walls and flooring
  • Rig stations set and ready

Meet Andrew

Hi, I’m Andrew. I have fixed homes here since 2010.

This is my work and my name on it. When you call Hughes Residential Services, you get me, not a crew you have never met. I show up when I say I will, I explain what I am doing, and I treat your home the way I would want someone to treat mine.

Fifteen years in, the job is still the same: do good work, charge fair, and make a homeowner glad they called.

Good Questions

What homeowners ask before they call.

What areas does Hughes Residential Services cover?
Hughes Residential Services covers East Alton, Alton, Edwardsville, Bethalto, and Granite City. We work throughout the Metro East and St. Louis. Call (618) 531-5564 to confirm your town.
Do you give free estimates?
Yes. Estimates are free. Tell us what is going on with your home and we will give you a straight answer on how we would fix it and what it costs.
What kind of work do you take on?
We handle home repairs, property maintenance, and handyman projects: drywall, flooring, tile, doors, trim, fixtures, painting, carpentry, fences, and more. If it is broken or on your list, just ask.
Do you work with landlords and rental properties?
Yes. We work for both homeowners and landlords across the Metro East and St. Louis, including repairs and turnover work on rental properties.
How much does a handyman cost?
It depends on the job, so we give a free estimate before any work starts. Small repairs and installs are usually a short visit, while larger projects like flooring or carpentry are priced per job. Call (618) 531-5564, describe what you need, and you will get a straight number with no surprise add-ons.
How soon can you come out?
It depends on what is already on our schedule, but because we answer our own phone you find out right away instead of waiting on a callback. Call (618) 531-5564 and we will tell you honestly when we can get to your job.
Do you take small jobs?
Yes. Small jobs are a big part of what we do: the single repair, the one install, the punch-list item a larger contractor will not bother to schedule. No job is too small to call about.
Do you answer your own phone?
Yes. When you call (618) 531-5564 you reach the owner, the person who will actually do the work, not a call center or an answering service.
How do I reach you?
Call or text (618) 531-5564, or email andrew@hugheshomeservices.org. We answer our own phone, so you talk to the person doing the work.
